Background

The Foundation for Children with Disabilities (FCD) is non governmental organization whose propose is to work with children with disabilities and their families. It was founded in 1982 and is registered as a non-profit organization.

Objectives

• Assist children with disabilities and their families through the process of rehabilitation and working to become as self-sufficient as possible.
• On-site rehabilitation education for disabled children and their families who cannot pragmatically come to the foundation.
• Support studies and research about rehabilitation, approach from various sources, and provide information and knowledge to disabled children and their families.
• Empower and support families of children with disabilities.
• Disseminate information on the potential of children with disabilities and their family in regards to how they can still be an important part of the community, and participate in society.
• Cooperate with other similiar foundations and coordinate public affairs tasks
• Encourage the further devleopment of Thai public policy on the employment of handicapped persons to provide further opportunities for self-sustainability.

Strategy

1. Operate as a facilitator to teach parents and disabled children the process of rehabilitation, and empower the parents with the knowledge and motivation to complete that process.
2. Take a stakeholder approach, bringing together families, community members, and bussinesses that have investments in the child and help them work together.
3. Help the stakeholders develop the disabled child's physical and mental capcity by facilitating information, time, and resources so the child can become as self-sustainable as possible.
